Prancing Horse Estate Pinot Noir 2019
The Reserve is only made in what we consider to be years that are a great vintage.
The 2016 Reserve follows the very highly rated 2015 (Halliday 95 points) that sold out within weeks of release.
2016 is the only year we have produced a 100% whole bunch pinot noir (both Estate and Reserve).
Weather conditions prior to harvest were very hot producing a significant percentage of lignified stems.
This is a unique wine with a strong presence of violets and subtle capsicum on the nose and an intense but soft mouth feel. Ripe cherry and wild berry fruit combine with savoury earthy flavours to add depth and complexity. Firm tannins support a structured mouthfeel with ripe Pinot Noir fruit and subtle oak characters.
The Reserve was barrel aged for 8 months longer than the Estate and has a seductive, savoury, lingering finish.
The tannins will continue to soften ensuring years of pleasure in the glass.
Only 290 bottles produced. (one barrel )
A wine that will benefit from five to eight years cellaring.
